Autumn colour from the Dandenong Ranges

For out of town readers, the Dandenong Ranges are about an hour's drive from central Melbourne and are renowned for the incredible forests of gum trees. There are also a lot of exotic plants and these yield an amazing display of colour every autumn......

It is pretty up here at the moment.

Unfortunately, a lot of the gum trees are also turning brown, after the CFA burn-offs of about a month ago.

The hills have these ochre veins running through their canopy where the gums have been damaged. I keep meaning to get up there and take some photos... i really must do that soon, before they start 'cotton-wooling' themselves.
